Terms of Service
The terms that apply when you ask Tickets Japan to reserve dated, timed venue entry on your behalf: how a request works, prices and fees, refunds, cancellations and liability.
Nos documents juridiques sont publiés en anglais uniquement, et c'est le texte anglais qui fait foi. Ouvrir la version anglaise.
In short: you ask us to reserve a dated, timed ticket and we try to get it when the venue releases tickets. You pay in US dollars up front, and every paid ticket price includes a non-refundable USD 2 processing fee. If we cannot secure a ticket you asked for, we refund what you paid for it, including any taxes, minus that fee and Stripe's costs. We are an independent booking service based in Canada, not the venue, and we cannot promise availability.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are a contract between you and Carbon Impact Technologies Inc. ("Tickets Japan", "we", "us"), a corporation incorporated in Ontario, Canada. They cover tickets-japan.com and every booking request you send us through it.
By sending a booking request you accept these terms, our Refund and Cancellation Policy and our Privacy Policy. If a translation of these terms differs from the English version, the English version applies.
2. What the service is and is not
Tickets Japan is an independent travel booking service. You tell us the venue, the days you can visit and the part of the day you can enter, and how many visitors are coming. When the venue releases tickets, our team attempts to reserve that dated, timed entry on your behalf through the venue's official ticketing channel.
We are not the venue. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Ghibli Museum, Studio Ghibli or Museo d'Arte Ghibli, or by any other venue we list.
We do not guarantee that a ticket will be available. What you pay for is our attempt to reserve your requested dates and entry times. We do not resell tickets and we do not hold a stock of them.
3. How a request works
- You choose a venue, the first and last day you can visit (or ask for the earliest open day) and whether you can enter in the morning, the afternoon or at any time. You tell us how many visitors in each age band need a ticket, the full name of the person the tickets are for and an email address.
- You pay the listed price for each visitor in US dollars, plus any taxes shown at checkout.
- On the venue's release day we try every open day and entry time in your range until we secure your tickets. For the Ghibli Museum, Mitaka, tickets for a month are released at 10:00 Japan time on the 10th of the previous month.
- We email you the result within 48 hours of the release.
You can send a request up to 11 months before your visit. We must receive it by the 8th of the month before your visit month, so that it is in the queue on release day. Requests received after the deadline are not accepted. If we take payment for a request we do not accept, we refund it in full.
4. Prices, taxes and fees
Prices are shown in US dollars, before taxes. Any tax that applies is added and shown at checkout before you pay. Each paid ticket price includes a non-refundable USD 2 processing fee. Children aged 3 and under need no ticket and pay no fee. The price shown when you send your request is the one that applies to it.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Any currency-conversion or foreign-transaction fees added by your bank are between you and your bank.
5. When a booking succeeds
If we secure a ticket for any of your requested dates and entry times, the booking is complete and the full price is kept. We email the ticket to the address on your request.
The ticket is dated and timed. The venue's rules apply to it, including entry within an hour of the entry time, possible identification checks against the name on the booking, and a ban on resale.
If we can secure tickets for only some of the visitors on your request, we confirm the tickets we secured and refund the others as described in section 6.
6. When a booking fails
If we cannot secure a ticket for a visitor on any of the dates and entry times you asked for, we refund what you paid for that visitor, including any taxes, minus the USD 2 processing fee and any costs charged to us by Stripe. Refunds are issued within 10 business days of release day. A worked example is in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
7. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- give the correct full name of the person the tickets are for, matching the identification they will carry, and the correct age band of every visitor who needs a ticket
- give a working email address and keep it current until your visit
- follow the venue's rules on the day, including arrival within the entry window
- not resell, transfer or advertise a ticket we have secured for you
If the venue refuses or cancels a ticket because the details you gave us were wrong, or because its rules were broken, no refund is due.
8. Changes and cancellations
Until the end of the 7th of the month before your visit month, Japan time, you can change the dates and entry times on your request free of charge, or cancel it and receive a refund minus the USD 2 processing fee per ticket. After that we are preparing to queue for you and the request can no longer be changed or cancelled. Once a ticket is secured it cannot be changed, cancelled or refunded, because venue tickets are dated, timed and non-transferable.
Our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms, has the details.
9. Intellectual property and trade marks
The text, design and images on tickets-japan.com belong to Carbon Impact Technologies Inc. or our licensors and may not be copied for commercial use without our written permission.
Ghibli Museum, Studio Ghibli, Museo d'Arte Ghibli and the related names, characters and images are trade marks or copyright works of their owners. We use them only to identify the venue. Nothing on this site gives you or us any rights in them.
10. Our liability
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for the venue's acts or omissions, including closures, cancellations and refusals of entry, or for anything outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of the venue's ticketing system on release day.
Our total liability to you in connection with a request is limited to the amount you paid us for that request. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario. Any right you have under your home country's consumer law to bring a claim there is not affected.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. Changes apply to requests sent after the change, not to requests already accepted.
