When do November 2026 tickets go on sale?

November 2026 tickets go on sale at 10:00 JST on Saturday 10 October 2026, through Lawson Ticket.

A weekend release changes nothing about the sale. For many people outside Japan it makes the timing easier: Friday night in New York, or an early Saturday alarm in London, instead of a work night. Sydney is at 12:00 rather than 11:00 because its clocks have gone forward by then. If even a Saturday 02:00 is not for you, a booking service like Tickets Japan queues at release with your dates in order of preference.

Is the museum open on Culture Day, 3 November?

Only the official calendar decides whether the museum opens on Culture Day, Tuesday 3 November. Tuesdays are normally closed, and a national holiday on a Tuesday is exactly the case the general rule does not settle. The official calendar also says whether it closes on another day instead. Read it before release day. If 3 November is not on sale, that is the calendar, not a glitch.

The other Tuesdays, 10, 17 and 24 November, are closed as usual.

Which November dates will go first?

The Labour Thanksgiving Day weekend, 21 to 23 November, is likely to go first, led by the 10:00 entry on each day. The holiday itself is Monday 23 November, and it is the last long weekend before the New Year break.

Shichi-Go-San, the children's kimono shrine visits, falls around 15 November, and the weekend of 14 and 15 November is a family weekend across Tokyo. Expect some competition for it too.

Schools are in term all month. Weekdays outside the long weekend are calm, and weekday afternoons are the slots that stay on sale longest, in November as in every month.

What is Mitaka like in November?

Highs are around 17 °C and it is mostly dry. Bring a layer for the rooftop, which is reached by a narrow spiral staircase and closes in bad weather.

Autumn colour in Inokashira Park runs from mid-November into early December, which puts the second half of the month in the best window. If the colour is on, arrive through the park: Kichijoji Station is on the far side of it, about a 15-minute walk from the museum. From Mitaka Station the route is the Tamagawa Josui waterway, also 15 minutes on foot, or the community bus every 15 minutes (¥230 for adults).

The park-first plan

The obvious plan is a 10:00 entry with the park afterwards, and 10:00 is the entry that sells first. Turn it round. Walk through Inokashira Park from Kichijoji in the late morning, eat in the Harmonica Yokocho alleys or along the Sun Road arcade, then use a 13:00 or 14:00 entry. There is no exit time, so you still have until 18:00 inside, and the afternoon slots are the ones most likely to be left on release day.

Photography is not allowed inside the museum, only on the grounds and the rooftop. With the park on the way in, November is the month to bring the camera for the walk rather than the building.
